Administration:
Katherine
Werner Ciano, MHA, RN
joined NHH as Executive Director
in June 2008. She has 20 years of experience
in home health care as a nurse and as an administrator.
Katherine received her masters degree in Health Care Administration
from Georgetown University. A Hawaii resident since
2006, Katherine believes passionately in healthcare delivery
in the comfort of home.
Colleen
O’Sullivan, RN, BSN began her nursing career
in 1977 as an adolescent and adult psychiatric nurse and then
worked with that same population in a residential substance
abuse program. Colleen has served North Hawaii Hospice since
1993 as a night and weekend on-call nurse. A Hawaii
resident since 1989, with years of experience in both clinical
and home health care, she is now the Clinical
Administrator for North Hawaii Hospice.
Colleen
Norris, MBA
joined NHH in June of 2007 as our Finance
Manager. She recently received her MBA, and
brings to us a knowledge and skill set that will serve us
well as we continue to grow. A native of Hilo, she is
well known in the community from her many years working in
visible locations such as KTA and Parker School.
Dee
Dee Hoffmann
joined NHH in July 2009 as our Clinical
Services OfficeManager. Dee
Dee is a familiar face to many in North Hawaii having worked
for many years at Parker School. Born and raised in
Clevland Ohio, she has many years experience in both office
management and as a health aide so she is a perfect fit to
support our clinical services team. Dee Dee is pursuing
her degree in Healthcare Administration.
Gayle
Hubbard
joined NHH in February 2008 as our Administrative
Assistant after being a NHH volunteer
since August 2007. She was born and raised in Hilo,
is a graduate of the University of Hawaii at Manoa, and has
experience in a variety of office settings.
Patient
Care Services:
Lauren
Butcher, APRN relocated
to Waimea to accept an advanced practice nursing position
at the local hospital and joined the North Hawaii Hospice
team in February 2008. She has a strong background in
palliative care and provides invaluable clinical knowledge
to support the rest of the clinical team.
Sally
Kaufmann, RN joined
our hospice team as an on-call nurse in December 2008 and
became our Volunteer Coordinator in October 2009. She
works to train and then match volunteers to their tasks, whether
it be patient care or office assistance. She
most recently managed the Hawaii Heart and and Brain Center
at North Hawaii Community Hospital. A nurse with 30
years experience, Sally has been a resident of the Big Island
since 1991.
Lisa
Lawrence , RN, CHPN worked
as a full-time hospice nurse at North Hawaii Hospice for many
years. Now, although she has scaled back her commitment,
she can't quite stay away, and serves NHH and our patients
as an evening and weeked on-call nurse.
Nina
Millar, RN
is a 24 year resident of the Big Island. She became
a Registered Nurse in 1990, after attending the University
of Hawaii at Hilo. She is also a midwife, graduating
from the Midwifery Program at the Maternity Center in Texas
in 1983. Armed with this unusual combination of practices,
which includes several years as a home health care nurse,
Nina feels lucky to be present at both the beginning and the
end of lives here in North Hawaii.
Christine
M. Richardson, RN
is now a Patient Care Coordinator covering NHH patients in
North Kohala after working as our weekend on-call nurse for
many years. She has lived and worked as a nurse on the
Big Island for 14 years and was one of two nurses sponsored
by NHH to go to Zimbabwe to work with a "sister hospice."
Mark
Therrien, MSW is a social worker with years
of experience working in the field of grief and loss issues
with both children and adults. After studying with Elisabeth
Kubler-Ross in the 70's and 80's, he had a private practice
in Honolulu, served as a school social worker, was a member
of a suicide and crisis team, and raised three children. After
launching their offspring, Mark and his wife have returned
to Hawaii, and now live here on the Big Island.
Brooke
Winvick, RN, CHPN has been a Registered Nurse
since 1986, fourteen of those years as a home health nurse.
After joining North Hawaii Hospice in 2000, she worked as
the night and weekend on-call nurse, and since 2004 she has
become a case manager and works part-time during the week
as well. In 2005, she received her certification as
a Hospice and Palliative Care nurse. Originally from southern
California, Brooke has lived on the Big Island since 1999.
